...another lawyer would tell you that Paramount is 100% within its right
to demand the removal of copyrighted material. That doesn't mean that I
like or approve of their "purification" of the net (to use a Tak Tak
term), but I don't think you can fight them legally. The only exceptions
would be things like episode synopsis, which should be fine as long as
they are original writings and not taken from press releases (are they
banning press releases?--that would seem silly).
I've always seen the web as one big, illegal copyright infringement, but
I don't think a lot of it does any harm to big companies like Paramount
since it increases awareness of a product and promotes it. I think most
of the larger web sites do Paramount a great deal of good. Vidiot's site
was great, and certainly never stopped me from watching an episode just
because he had some screen captures on his site or a press release
telling me the basic plot of an episode.

I removed the URLs to all (free) Paramount sites from my bookmarks as I
suddenly have no interest in visiting any of their sites.
